#edgesmatter

Hey, I’m Hair By Karyne also known as HBK, the Haitian Queen from Brooklyn New York, specializing in painless braiding and informing hair lovers around the world that their edges matter. I love what I do! I am a traveling hairstylist, offering my clients affordable, painless, luxurious hair braiding services in a comforting setting of their choice. My work yields results in hair growth; length retention, volume, and thickness.

My passion for providing painless, protective braid styles was born out of personal childhood experiences, and for more than 20 years, I obtained my cosmetology license, developed and mastered the painless braid technique and focused on sharing my #edgesmatter message. The #EDGESMATTER mantra and platform started when I noticed women on social media with severe receding hairlines, thinning hair, as well as, a consensus of women posting about their painful braid installations. Women should know they do not have to endure pain from a hairstylist when getting braid services. Pain pills should not be a prerequisite for your braiding experience. Obtaining painless braid styles allows for immediate ease of style and manipulation of any type of braid installation. You are able to sleep in comfort, your roots are able to breathe, and most importantly still retain healthy hair and length once the braids are removed. Parents find the painless braid technique to be a godsend for their children in maintaining the health of their scalps and hair growth. In the words of some of my youngest clients, the McClure twins, they love getting their “ouchless braids”.
