i am not okay

Sisterfriends,

When I started this magazine three years ago, Wow! yeah, my baby is 3! {officially 7/24/20} I promised not to publish for the sake of publishing, whether it would be an article from a collaborator or my own letters to you. Especially my letters to you. I will always speak from the heart with truth in love. Sometimes that takes a minute.

If you follow me or @DVAMag you may have seen the triple I AM NOT OKAY posts. Sentiments that were first spoken from NYC Public Advocate Jumaane Williams resonated with so many Black Humans. Sentiments about the Amy Coopers, Karens, Beckys, Pattys, Rona, Billys, Bobs, Toms, and Dicks of the world and the systemic racism card that is ALWAYS in play.

I am not one to invite the daily news into my space. So being on social media for any amount of time was taking its toll. I stressed about continuing to post and grow my brand or stepping away to reconnect and re-up with Grace/God/Jesus. I have to take a break. In order to stay true to my vision, my voice, my purpose. That being said, I may be absent from social media, but I’m still working, moving forward in my purpose to move you forward in your purpose. I will continue to write this letter to you. But all other content will be paused. I pray if you feel the need, the pressure of performance, that you take care of yourself first!

I believe it will make all the difference for you, your purpose, your brand.
